Yay! Firstly, to check my availability please email me at eleanor@eleanorjane.co.uk with the date and location of your wedding. I aim to get back to you within 48 hours.
If I am available I will suggest we meet for a relaxed consultation, either at your home or in a local café, where we can discuss your plans for the big day over a tea. Mmm, tea. This meeting is complimentary and there is no pressure to book. It’s a great opportunity to get to know each other, look over sample work and answer any questions you might have. If you live some distance away we can have this conversation over the phone or via email.
After the meeting I encourage you and your partner to have a good chat to decide if I am a good match for what you’d like to achieve with your wedding photography. I look forward to receiving your decision via email and if you choose to go ahead with the booking I’ll send you a contract form outlining the package information. You will need to sign and return this to me, along with a deposit of 25% of the total package price, in order to secure the date. This is payable by cheque or bank transfer
Once I have received your paperwork I too will sign the contract and return a copy to you along with the receipt. Ta-da! Your wedding date is all booked up!
Do you have insurance?
I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. I also have a clean driving license and an advanced CRB.
Do you carry spare equipment?
Yes, I carry a backup camera body and a small army of lenses and am quite prepared for all manner of disasters!
Are you a professional?
Of course! I worked throughout my higher education, shooting my first wedding ten years ago at the age of 16 while in college studying for a two year National Diploma in Photography & Digital Imaging. Then in 2006 I graduated from the University of Wales, Newport with a first class BA (hons) in Photographic Art and have been running my own business ever since.
Will you bring an assistant or a second photographer?
We can talk more about this when we meet as it all depends on the size of your wedding. More often than not I will attend by myself but if you have a large number of guests, an unusual plan for the day or are having a photo studio at the reception I will bring an assistant.
Can our guests take pictures at the wedding?
They certainly can. The only request I make is that all shots I set up are for me to photograph exclusively and that guests respectfully refrain from taking pictures until after the official photography. This usually isn’t a problem but I do ask that, when we go off to photograph the bride & groom shots after the ceremony, no other photographers are present. For example, you’ll probably find it incredibly distracting (& impossible to relax) if Uncle Dai is jumping around behind me, popping his flash gun and causing a fuss!
How long will the photography take?
I arrive during the bridal preparations and offer three packages covering to the end of the ceremony, the wedding breakfast speeches or up until the first dance. If you book a photo studio for the reception party I can even stay right until the last person stops dancing! I mainly capture reportage style photography throughout the day but if you’d like some formal group portraits I aim to shoot these immediately after the ceremony and take no longer than twenty minutes. It’s usual to spend between half an hour to an hour on the bride and groom portraits but we can discuss and plan a schedule for the photography together.
What if I don’t want any formal groups?
Not everyone does. You are in complete control of the type of photography you have. Some couples like a selection of the family group photographs, some prefer me to capture informal shots only and some like a mixture of both.
I’d really like to do something creative and different with my wedding photography, is that ok?
I love you!
Do we need to feed you?
Nope, I will bring my own lunch and eat out of your way. I'll never say no to a piece of cake though ;)
What happens if you’re ill and unable to attend the wedding?
This hasn’t happened yet *touch wood* but if it should I have a few close and trusted photographer friends that I can call upon to save the day.
Can my guests order prints?
Yes, unless you request otherwise all your pictures will be uploaded to a password protected online gallery and guests will have the option of several affordable print sizes. This is a particularly good way to share the pictures if you are having a photo studio at the reception. Payment is taken via Paypal or guests can contact me directly to arrange alternative methods.
What kind of albums do you offer?
Starting in 2011 I will exclusively be offering Queensberry wedding albums, priced from £500. These exquisite, bespoke albums are an absolutely beautiful keepsake and a timeless family heirloom. Honestly. I know everyone says that about the albums they offer but let me tell you this… I never used to offer albums as I thought everything on the market was hideous or sloppily made. When I discovered Queensberry I changed my mind in a heartbeat!
Can we choose the photographs that go in our album?
Yes, of course! I will design the initial layout on the laptop and we can spend some time together refining the final product.
Can we have our photographs on a CD?
All my packages come with a CD of jpegs.
How long will it take to get our photographs back?
I aim to have the proofs and CD back to you within a fortnight. After we’ve finalised your album design it can take a further month for the album to be handmade and delivered from New Zealand.
Any other questions? Please get in touch!
